For those of us who were blessed to be touched by David, I send my heartfelt sympathy. At the same time, a smile comes to my face remembering how David put so much effort into loving his family and friends. Family was very important to David. His efforts at producing an accurate genealogy of my own dear father’s side of the family, through my Grandma K were a treasured gift. Separated by thousands of miles and many decades, David awakened memories and missing pieces of family stories that would have otherwise been lost to me and my children.

    Dear Barb & Family

It is with deep sadness that Jackie & I learned about Dave’s untimely passing. We could not have wished for a greater friend, or trusted confidant or indeed a helpful and thoughtful neighbor.
We shared so many good times together, whether in Calgary or Palm Desert and the road trips we shared are legendary.
We were so glad to have had the opportunity to chat with Dave some weeks ago, when, of course in typical fashion, Dave was more concerned about us and his family that he was about himself. That unselfishness was part of his DNA and his masonic tradition.
His considerate and caring character also manifested itself in his hard and diligent work on the condo board and the generous volunteer work he undertook, especially at the Foothills Academy.
Knowing Dave was an honor and a privilege. It these dark days of sadness, we hope you will all be comforted by all the memories of a life well lived by a great man who will be deeply missed by all.

    Jackie & Martin (Grace)

Dear Barb and family. So sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. I always think of your family as part of our extended family as you were such a part of our lives as I grew up. Dave encouraged me to peruse a career with the CFD and supported me all the way through the process. If it were not for him I would have missed out on a very rewarding career. I also think back fondly of all our time together helping out at Foothills Academy and of his presence at family functions. He will be deeply missed.

    Love Paul and Lisette

    Barb, Kim, and Todd:
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Dave’s passing. I wasn’t aware that he had been having problems.
I will always remember the great friendships we had as neighbours when we moved to Silver Ridge Drive. The minute we moved in…in fact we werent’ even moved in yet, there was Barb sitting on the front steps with coffee pot in hand ! The friendship went on for many years, going back and forth between houses, I helped Dave develop your basement, and he helped me with mine.
Our kids were together all the time.
Of course, after we moved away we didn’t see much of each other, but kept in contact directly or through friends.
I was so happy to see you two show up for Bev’s memorial service. Friendly faces from so many years back.
Funny how friendships forged in our early years carry on until the end. Those were the good times.
My heart goes out to you all, having recently been through it, I know what you are going through, and will go through in the years to come. But you have friends to lean on, and to comfort you. That helps in so many ways.
Once again, my most sincere condolences…I will see you for sure on Thursday.
    Warmest regards,
    Ron Deitz
