BIGELOW (GEYER), Regina Johanna Adelgunde

January 2, 1929 – March 21, 2019
With heavy hearts, we share with you the passing of Regina Bigelow; wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Cochrane at the age of 90.
Regina was born to Arno Geyer and Erna Werner in the beautiful German village of Oelze and grew up in the neighboring village of Grossbreitenbach. Her father was a forestry ranger and instilled a love of nature in her that lasted a lifetime. She absolutely loved hiking, whether it was in Bavaria or Kananaskis, and continued hiking difficult treks into her late seventies. She also enjoyed cross-country skiing, camping, and picnics, often in the company of her husband, Garnet.
Regina also cherished her time working as a teacher assistant with special needs students in Nanaimo, BC and Drumheller, AB.
Although Regina was raised in the Lutheran faith, she always felt closest to God when she was out in nature. In keeping with her wishes, she will be returning to her beloved mountains in the early summer.
Regina is survived by her husband of 65 years, Garnet; daughters Susan Bigelow, Hazel Brillinger, Nancy Bigelow and their families; as well as sisters, Christal and Waltroud in Germany. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Harry, son Gary, and son-in-law John.
You will be dearly missed. Rest in Peace.

Arrangements entrusted to Cochrane Country Funeral Home, Florence (Flo) Simpson, Funeral Director. Ph: 403-932-1039.

Susan, Hazel & Nancy,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. I wasn’t aware of her deep love of nature but it is now evident that was passed down to her children. I remember her lovely kind person and personality from our days in Penhold together. It is the first I have heard of her participation in the Melissa’s race in Banff. What a wonderful photo and memory of her.
Be good to yourselves and each other. Allow yourself time to grieve. You will miss her for a long time but have some wonderful memories to hang on to.
Love, Diane Knight

We are so sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. We do remember her love of Sparwood B.C and how she enjoyed the mountains and her friends and companionships she had during her life there.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. May she rest in peace.
Sue, I never met your mom, but she sounds like someone I would have loved! She obviously lived a wonderful life. Hugs to you and your family.
