BERGERON, Lori Lee Ann

September 11, 1965 – June 17, 2022

On Friday, June 17, 2022 in Cochrane, Alberta, Lori Bergeron peacefully passed away surrounded by family after living with metastatic breast cancer for a number of years.

Lori was born to Frank and Pearl LaPlante (Weir) in the fall of 1965 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Lori spent many happy times at the family farm near San Clara, MB, and at her grandparents’ home in Roblin, MB. Her childhood was filled with fun times with friends and family and she participated in many activities including sports and recreation.

In 1987, Lori graduated from the St. Boniface Hospital School of Nursing and then worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. After 4 years of working as a registered nurse, she decided it was time explore more of the world through travel nursing. Just prior to leaving Canada, Lori began a relationship with her future husband, Paul Bergeron. They married in Toronto in 1993 and continued to live in Florida where their daughter Arielle was born. From there, after a brief stint in Texas, they returned to Canada where their son Raymond was born.

Lori enjoyed working as an NICU and Operating Room nurse at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, AB. She volunteered with community sports organizations in Cochrane, AB, while she and Paul raised their children and operated Mountain View Helicopters, first with partner Richard Alzetta by their side and later with Curtis & Ashleigh Nadon.

Lori is survived by her husband of 28 years Paul, daughter Arielle, and son Raymond; siblings, their spouses and children Garth LaPlante (Elizabeth, Nicholas, Alexa & Elenna); Evelyn LaPlante (Juan); Grant LaPlante (Beverly and Sarah); brothers-in-law Glen Bergeron (Valerie, Erin & Bryan); Ken Bergeron (David & Tammy); mother-in-law Florence Bergeron; step-mother Bernice LaPlante; and numerous cousins. She was predeceased in death by her parents Frank and Pearl LaPlante; father-in-law Lucien Bergeron; grandparents, and several uncles and aunts.

During the last few years Lori appreciated the quality time she was able to spend relaxing with family and friends at the lake in Manitoba, in California, in Mexico, and around the Cochrane area. The forest and the lake were her happy places. She felt grounded and at peace when among the trees or near the water.

While time and life interrupted our friendships on and off through the years since highschool, I loved that we could pick up where we left off and feeling like no time has passed. The kindest person with a big heart and so easy going. You were my buddy who’s
Bring the shovel AND the wine – and partner in crime through our high school and shenanigans. So many fun time with never ending giggles and laughed that I can hear even now in my mind. And that is how I will always remember her in my hear and mind. I will miss you my friend. So until we can catch up again, about I love you to bits and will miss you.

Paul – if you and the kids ever want to hear about the shenanigans in high school we got up too, feel free to reach out when you are ready. Sending our prayers to you all in such a huge loss

Lori was a special treasure in my life. We occasionally travelled together, sometimes shared painful moments and traded recipes such as her famous Pumpkin & Cheese Marble Tart which I have been baking annually for the past 30 years. My world won’t be the same without you my girl. My love always. Vivienne
