BERGER, David George
August 20, 1953 – November 18, 2016
It is with sadness that we announce that our beloved David passed away in Cochrane, at the age of 63.
David is survived by his wife Pattie (Sauve); his three children, Wyatt Milner (Bonnie), Tara Popplewell, and Jerrod Berger (Sara); four grandchildren, Charolette, Julie, Emmett, and Averie; his mother Isabel Butte; his sisters, Theresa (Cathy) Miller and Sheila Berger (Stan); numerous aunts and uncles, brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, and life-long friends Jana and Garry Daignault. David was predeceased by his father George Berger.
David was born and raised in Calgary where he attended St. Francis High School and where he and Pattie started their 40 year romance. After starting a family, Dave and Pattie moved to Cochrane in 1995. Dave worked in the Oil & Gas industry for 25 years and then spent a few years after doing some consulting work prior to his retirement in 2013. Dave and Pattie spent much of their time at the Water Valley Golf Course where they had memberships. As well as being an avid golfer, Dave’s greatest joys in life were his grandchildren. He relished his role in life of being their Papa.
The family wishes to thank the Cochrane Emergency Services for their efforts and care, and also Cochrane Home Care and our wonderful friends and neighbors for their kindness.
A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion 114 – 5th Avenue, Cochrane, AB on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 2:00 pm.

To Pattie, Tara, Jerrod, Wyatt and their families as well as Garry and Jana Daignault,
Thinking of you at this very sad time. We all first met in the mid-70’s through Gulf Canada where we became socially connected and participated in various company activities. In addition, Fred remembers many wonderful times on the golf course with David, Jerrod and Dave’s brother-in-law Barry. Dave was such a fun-loving, good natured friend to everyone he knew. We will truly miss him.
We are very sorry to hear this sad news. Thinking of all of you and know he will be truly missed.

Condolences to Pattie and family – Dave and I worked together at Gulf Canada in the last six years before I retired in 1995 . It’s with heartfelt sadness I write this condolence for our beloved David. Taken from all of us much too soon. Such a gentle and warm person. David never failed to make me laugh. He had that quiet smile that never failed to make me smile too. I grieve for all of the Berger family as I know they will be missing such a large part of family with David’s passing. May he now rest in peace and tranquility. It’s in our hearts we will remember David with much love forever.
Our deepest sympathy to Pattie and family on your sad loss. Our thoughts are with you all. David was a fine man.

My condolences to family of Mr George Berger. May the “hearer of prayer” grant you the needed strength to cope at this difficult time. (Psalms 65:2)
So sorry to hear about David,The last time I saw David he was Playing Santa & such a Jolly One RIP
Condolences to PATTY & FAMILY.
I was sad to read about Davids passing, he and I meet long ago and went our different ways. Its unfortunate we did not stay closer through our lives while raising our families. I am sure the quiet loving personality of my step dad Tony Berger was a reflection of who David was. May his grandchildren carry his personality to future generations.
My deepest regrets and condolences to Pattie and Isabel, to your families and to your friends. David’s friendship from the very beginning of elementary school at St. Paul’s through high school at St. Francis will never be forgotten.
