BERGEN, Isaac Thiessen
January 9, 1947 – April 29, 2011
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Isaac (Ike) Thiessen Bergen. Ike passed away peacefully at 64 years of age on Friday, April 29, 2011.
He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Magaretha Bergen (Giesbrecht); his four children: Helen Wiebe (Darian), Lisa Rosenberg (Steve), Nettie Bergen-Belanger (Kyle), and Niko Bergen; his eight grandchildren: Blake and Erica Wiebe, Danielle, Oceane and Natalie Rosenberg, Alyssa and Bronwyn Bergen, and Logan Belanger. He is also survived by his brothers Henry and Ben Bergen. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernhard Bergen and Anna Thiessen, his sister Tina Froese and his first born son, Ben Bergen.

Our deep sympathy goes out to the family.
Ike was a special person and we will miss him dearly.
After Ike and Margaret moved away from Steinbach, Ike always made a point of staying in touch with monthly phone calls. We always looked forward to his calls.
When they first moved, Ike was very quite on the phone. After he had received his transplant, his voice was so much louder and he sounded healthy and full of life.
We enjoyed visiting with them when they came for a visit to Steinbach and felt special that they had taken the time to spend with us as they had so many friends in the area to visit.
Our son Mike will always remember Ike as he could never remember Mike’s name and always called him “George”. At first Mike would correct him, but it got to a point were Mike realized that when it came to Ike, he would always be known as “George”.
Mark had a very special bond with Ike. Thru Ike, Mark still had his friend Ben. Maybe Ike felt the same way, that thru Mark; he still had a little bit of Ben.
We will always have a place in our hearts for Ike.
Our thoughts and prays are with family and we wish that we could attend the service, but are unable to.

Lisa, Steve, Danielle, OC and Natalie,
We were very saddened to hear of the sudden passing of your dad and grandpa. Rob and I and the girls know only too well what you are going through. Take some time to remember the good times and take comfort in the fact that he is no longer suffering but looking down upon you fondly and marvelling in how well you are all managing. I will always remember your dad’s smiling face when he would come into the gym down at Spray Lakes and his enthusiasm and pride beaming when watching the girls play ringette.
Be strong and hang in there! If you need anything with the kids, just let us know. Take care and God bless,
With lots of love,
Rob, Sandi, Emily, Abby and Riley Wasylyniuk
