BALAN, Gabi
December 12, 1963 – March 30, 2021
Gabi Balan, 57, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Gabi bravely fought a serious medical condition while displaying courage and determination throughout. He was a devoted husband and loving father whom always put family first and fought to give his kids everything they wanted in life.
Gabi is survived by his beautiful wife, Daniela. He was an extremely proud father to Alex and Kevin.
Gabi lived an eventful and colourful life. A PhD, accomplished researcher, inventor, company founder, and a dedicated father and husband. His ambition and passion for engineering management took him across multiple continents and he worked on many large-scale international projects. His family will forever be proud of his many achievements and his scientific contributions will never be forgotten.
When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed producing and mixing electronic music, flying his drones, video editing, and watching movies alongside his wife and sons. His passion for life and wealth of knowledge left a strong impression on everyone he knew. His family and close friends will miss him dearly, and will always remember the positive impact he had on their lives.
The passing of Gabi has left an enormous void in our lives, we can’t imagine living without him, but we take solace in the fact that he lived his life to the fullest! Te iubim cel mai mult! Vei ramane in inimile noastre pentru totdeauna!

Gabi was a deer friend that we knew since our university years, and we have always admired his great optimism, courage and visionary imagination in forging a new successful life in the beautiful British Columbia, for him and his beautiful family!
Gabi and Dana trusted us with being the God parents of their youngest son, Kevin, and we were and are today grateful for this trust and friendship, and we love you all, Kevin, Alex and Dana! We wish you great strength in understanding and accepting the unacceptable, but sometimes the best leave early, maybe they have new assigned journeys to start !
We will miss Gabi dearly!

It is with heavy heart that we received the news of Gabi passing away.
We met Gabi, Daniela, Alex and Kevin 28 years ago in Toronto, as we were all young immigrants trying hard to adapt to the new reality of our lives.
Over the years we became friends and we spent time working together or enjoying family time.
Years went by and circumstances changed, but our friendship stayed strong and grew constantly.
It will take a long time to get used to the idea that Gabi is not among us anymore.
He will be forever in our hearts.

Dana, Alex si Kevin suntem alaturi de voi !
Ştiam de suferinţa prin care trece Gabi dar speram intro minune, sau totusi să mai rămâna printre noi mai mult. A plecat insa mult prea devreme lasand in urma un gol imens.
A fost un om minunat, vesel si optimist si va ramane vesnic in sufletele si gandurile noastre.
In aceste clipe atât de grele, fie ca bunul Dumnezeu să va poată alina durerea şi să-i odihnească sufletul in pace.
Va imbratisam cu drag si suntem alaturi de voi.

Please accept our sincerest condolences on the loss of an incredible husband, father and friend: Gabi. I have such happy memories of spending time at your home when Alex and I were growing up. I will always remember Gabi’s unwavering support in what I was pursuing(whether it was school, work, or hobbies), his cheerfulness and determination to be an advocate to those he knew. He was a very caring person and his warmth shone through in every conversation I had with him. I am deeply heartbroken at the loss of such a special person.

Dear Balan family,
It is with the heavy feeling I received very sad news about Gabi passing away.
When I was in the very beginning of establishing my engineering career in Canada, Gabi gave me a big credit of trust and hired me as a sub-lead on an important and challenging project. I was seating beside him and from the first minute, I started feeling his great energy, his positive attitude and his sincere wiliness to share his vast technical, managerial, and life experience. He was very passionate about everything he was involved in: his work, cars, music but, most importantly, his family that he was mentioning always showing great care and love.
He had big plans ahead. One day, when we were talking about how hard we should work to achieve our goals, he said: “The first generation of immigrants does not retire.”
I still hear his voice: very energetic and confident, often with a great sense of humor, and always full of life.
May you be comforted by the wonderful memories about this great man, husband, and father, and please accept my deepest sincere condolences.
