ARNDT, Ross

It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of Ross Arndt on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 66 years.

Ross was the second child of Dennis and Evelyn Roberta (Berta) Arndt.  Although he grew up in Calgary, he spent his summers working alongside his cousins on the family farms north of Cochrane.

After graduating from Western Canada High, he continued his education at Mount Royal College in the study of Economics.

Ross and Dreva met in Couer d’Alene, ID. in April of 1980.  Must have been love at first sight as they married later that year.  Family being a priority, they decided to move from Calgary to Cochrane in 1983 to raise their family.  Sons Joshua and a year later Casey.  When the Grandchildren were born, he proudly donned a new hat “Grandpa”! Ross and Grandson Loukas shared the same love of video games, while Granddaughter Dylyn loved to bake him his favorite cookies.

In 2010, Ross retired, after 34 years from AGT/Telus and decided he enjoyed the warm Arizona winters over the snow and cold Alberta winters.  This is when he found the joy of cooking, especially if it involved the bbq or smoker.  He was famous for his smoked brisket and ribs.

He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #15 and Trout Unlimited.  Being a Jack of all trades, he enjoyed working with his hands using multiple mediums, from glass to masonry.

Ross enjoyed camping with family and friends.  He had a deep passion for fishing. His fishing adventures took him to Yellowknife NWT to Baja Mexico and countless places between.

There was always a hint of mischief in his smile and the opportunity for a well-timed prank or good-natured joke was never missed.  He was a mountain of a man with a heart and sense of humour to match.

Ross is survived by his wife Dreva of 41 years; sons, Joshua (Kimberly) and Casey (Tammy); grandson Loukas and granddaughter Dylyn; and sister Gail Jenkins. Ross will be deeply missed by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Dennis and Berta.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

    DREVA
I am truly sorry for your loss, I know Ross loved you and the boys immensely. My shock and surprise of his passing has deeply, deeply saddened me. Even though Ross and I did not see eye to eye all the time I still loved him, he was my family and we grew up together. Of course I wish I could have talked to him before his passing but that wasn’t meant to be, I guess. Please take comfort in remembering all the good memories and fun that you both had.

My love to you, Dreva and the Boys

    Gail

As his granddaughter, It hurt for me to see my grandma so sad and yes it hurt for me to see him go but at least he isn’t in pain anymore. Yes I miss him a lot,I miss him to the point that I will hear or see something that reminds me of him and I will breakdown into tears. All the camping trips in Caroline with the family and all the holiday and birthday dinners we had it’s just so upsetting to see that he won’t be there for any of them anymore. We all miss him very much and we wish he was still here with us.
