Margaret, age 99, passed away quietly in the early morning of December 7 at Bethany in Calgary.

She was predeceased by parents Thomas Bernard Martin and Mary Therese Martin (nee Daubenfeldt), husband Leonard Tetreault, and daughter Patricia, as well as all 14 siblings: Thomas, Rose, Edward “Ned”, Donald “Curly” (Rose), Garnet (Marie), Francis “Frank” (Merise), Marie Therese (Edward), David (Ester), Wilfred “Barney”, Alice (Robert), Vincent “Pat”, Lawrence (Eleanor), Ellen (Wilfred), and Emilie.

She is survived by children Lenore and Donald (Lynn), grandchildren Teri, Christian (Ashley), Remi (Keitha), Timothy, Jessica and Daniel, and great granddaughters Erica, Eloise, Amelie and Finnleigh. She is also survived by Tetreault in-laws Stanley (Clara), Phillipe (Gladys), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was born north of St. Brieux SK, and raised in nearby Daylesford. She studied dressmaking in Saskatoon before working as a sewing teacher and an accountant for Singer in Winnipeg and Yorkton SK. She married Leonard Tetreault of St. Brieux in 1948. Throughout Leonard’s career with Poole Construction (now PCL), Margaret managed the home front while continuing adult educational pursuits with a particular interest in psychology.

Margaret regularly sewed and gardened, and developed a strong interest in quilting. As an avid reader, she loved and collected old books and newspaper clippings. In addition, her love of children was satisfied by ongoing child care as long as she was able. She frequently worked for Canada Post during the Christmas seasons.

Leonard’s construction career took them to Edmonton, Winnipeg, Kitchener and Lethbridge, before settling finally in Calgary.

Margaret will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Bethany.
