Lamont Francis Murphy, beloved son of Keith and Kari Murphy, of Cochrane passed away suddenly on August 9, 2015, just 2 days shy of his 19th birthday. As well as his parents Keith and Karissa, Lamont will be dearly missed by their family dogs Libby, Maggie May and especially Murphy Murphy; Lamont’s grandparents Perry and Geraldine Murphy of St. John’s Nfld. and Nick and Ellen Gawryletz of Cochrane; aunts and uncles Loren & Krysta Dyck, and Michael & Melody Gawryletz, all of Cochrane; and cousins Josh & Jordy Dyck, and Christopher, Hunter & Parker Gawryletz; and many friends.

Lamont was born in Calgary and raised in Cochrane, graduating from Cochrane High School in 2014. He joined the 2512 King’s Own Calgary Regiment, Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps in 2009 where he excelled in every activity he participated in. Lamont attained the Rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CWO), which is the highest rank in Canadian Cadets. Lamont enjoyed his association with his fellow Cadets where he was a leader, a mentor and an inspiration to others. He was a man of passion, caring to a fault. He was genuinely happy and his smile lifted the souls of others. Lamont was the very definition of precious. More importantly than anything, he was our beloved son.

Relatives and friends are invited for an opportunity to pay their respects at Cochrane Alliance Church, 902 Glenbow Drive, Cochrane on Friday, August 14 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in Lamont’s honour at the same location on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at the Bottrell Cemetery. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Kids Help Phone, www.kidshelpphone.ca.

I noticed your son’s obituary in the Calgary Sun on Thursday and I felt compelled to send you my sincerest condolences. We lost our wonderful son Marc a few years ago. He was 24 years old. He passed away suddenly as well. Like Lamont, Marc was a cadet in the Air Force and attended Vimy Ridge Academy where he excelled. The similarities between Lamont and Marc(physical appearance, how both young men were described) is uncanny. Hence, my condolences to you. There will be a time when your grief will subside enough so you all can find a new “normal”. Like my family have. The tears of despair will eventually turn to tears of joy when you think of your beautiful Lamont. God bless you in these challenging days and months. I’m quite sure our son Marc greeted Lamont and presented him with a salute when he entered the gates of heaven.

Hold on to, and share his love for each of you with each other to help you along the path that lies ahead. The joys and happiness that Lamont filled your life with will carry you through.

    In my thoughts
