Heather Jones passed away on July 2, 2015 in Calgary, Alberta, just shy of her 39th birthday, and she was born in Edmonton, Alberta on August 5, 1976. Heather was a bright light in all the lives that she touched. Funny and kind, talented and inspiring, gentle but strong, Heather was an amazingly beautiful person inside and out. She had a special gift for horticulture which she shared with the love of her life, Gavin. They were a perfect match in every way.
Heather was predeceased by her grandparents; Gordon and Rachel Mann, Cecil and Louella Franklin, as well as her Uncle; Ronald Mann. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gavin, Mother; Andrea, Father and Step Mother; Wayne and Linda; Sisters Erin (Andrew) and Lesley (Chris); Step Brothers; Jason (Jenn) and Ian; Mother and Father in Law; Charlie and Sheila, Sister in Law Jayne Anne (Rachael and Daniel). As well as her Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

You were brave, and fought so hard to stay with us. We will miss you desperately and will never forget you. We are heartbroken that we were unable to spend more time with you, but are relieved that you are safe and at peace. We love you Heather.

A Celebration of Heather’s Life will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, (corner of Hwy 22 and George Fox Trail, Cochrane, AB) on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with interment to follow at the Cochrane Cemetery.

If friends so desire, Memorial Tributes in Heather’s Memory may be made to a local charity of one’s choice or plant a tree somewhere in her honour.

Dear Gavin and family. I have prayed for Heather so much these past months as she battled cancer. My own daughter was in the same battle and my sympathy goes out to Heathers parents who must be heartbroken. Heather really was a shining light and she left her mark on people as well as landscapes! We will miss her smile and her cheerful presence in our neighbourhood. Sadly I can’t attend her memorial service because I am at the bedside of my sister in Saskatchewan who is very ill. I am praying for you all this week.

Tim and I had the pleasure of working with Heather 20 years ago at Revy in Calgary. She was simply a “good”person. Always willing to give a hand. Quick to learn and an absolute joy to be around. Things were always better when Heather was around. After Tim and I left the lumber yard as we called it, it was funny to learn that my Mom’s step daughter was Heathers Aunt!! We had no idea at the time when we worked side by side. It was nice to hear up dates about her over the years from Phylis and Ron, then when you guys met my Mom Dolly and her husband Svend. All I heard was about this amazing young man she had met and was head over heals in love with. That put smiles on our faces since no one deserved it more then her. We thought of her often. Then we heard of her ensuing battle… We prayed for her. Talked of her great spirit that had touched us so many years ago. I am so sad for you. A bright light in the world was extinguished much too soon. But I KNOW she made the world a better place her time with us. We have not seen her since the Revy days. But look how she touched our lives!! I can only imagine the many many other people that feel the same way. I hope that gives you a small bit of comfort during this terrible time. God never makes mistakes. It’s hard to believe it now but it’s true. Truly our most sincerest sympathies, Tricia Peloquin and Tim Mascarenhas

Heather was a gentle soul and a “good” person! I was so blessed to get to know Heather–she had a way of touching your heart with her quiet, shy personality. She looked after my yard for the past few years and this year although she couldn’t work in the yard–planted my birdbath with a beautiful arrangement, which I touch each day and send a special prayer her way. I know there are angels and Heather will be a beautiful one.
Gavin and Andrea- my heart goes out to you for your loss–and I pray that time will heal.
To all of the family and close friends that Heather had, thoughts and prayers go out.
Heather – we stayed in touch during this very tough time and my message to you was “Stay Strong and Live in Sunshine” You are beautiful and strong and your spirit and soul will always be in the sunshine! Farewell my little friend!

Dear Gavin, we are so sorry for your loss, our heart breaks for you. Heather was an amazing woman; and I(Brenda) had the great opportunity to get to know her in many aspects. She has taught me the love of gardening; to take on new projects and to have no fear. She shared with me so much of her horticultural knowledge and now I am honored to carry this on. Remember that Heather is celebrating, rejoicing, she is HAPPY and has no more pain. May this be your comfort that she is with the Lord.

    Gavin,

I am sorry for your loss. Heather generously shared her garden/business process info with me when we were both figuring out how to do business. It was comforting to both of us to compare notes. We had not kept touch these past few years, but I was just searching for her to touch base and found this notice. My heart aches for you.
